Daniel Ortiz Rodriguez

Hi, I’m Daniel—a guitarist, composer, and educator based in southeast Melbourne.

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, I have over 15 years of experience in performing, teaching, and music production. My passion for the guitar began during my teenage years, inspired by a love for the instrument and the excitement of discovering new music. This enthusiasm quickly led me to compose my first original piece.

After playing in rock and indie bands, I decided to pursue formal studies in classical guitar performance at Javeriana University in Bogotá. This choice allowed me to refine my technique and develop my own style, combining traditional and classical elements with contemporary and electronic sounds.

In 2009, I earned my Bachelor of Music with a focus on classical guitar performance. Eager to expand my knowledge, I later studied teaching methodologies and music production, driven by a fascination with how technology shapes both creativity and learning.

Throughout my career, I’ve explored composition and music production, applying these skills to projects such as animated short films, TV commercials, dance performances, and sound installations.

I’m passionate about collaborating with visual artists and enjoy experimenting with different creative mediums. Today, I continue to create music for media and stage performances, always striving to innovate and connect through sound.
